Results from Jackson Classic Races today

Great races in Jackson today for the Nordic Classic races. The Varsity Boys and Girls both skied a terrific 10K course and the JV and Junior High/Middle School teams skied a 4K race. Perfect conditions in nearly every way and a fantastic volunteer crew from Jackson. Great job everyone! Results are available below – team standings available below only reflect the classic races from Friday races.

Tomorrow’s races are “Walt Berling Sprints” and the famed competitor Walt Berling of the same name will be organizing and managing the festivities. The racers are looking forward to another awesome day at Trail Creek Nordic Center outside Wilson, WY again tomorrow.

Jackson

Hi everyone –

First of all, a big “thank you” to all the parents who came to feed us and cheer us on in Soldier Hollow, as well as those who sent along yummy snacks for the bus ride! We are very fortunate to have such supportive parents.

Also, I’ve attached the results from the races so you can peruse them at your leisure.

As you know, we’re racing again this weekend in Jackson. Friday will be a 10k mass start classic race, and Saturday we’ll be doing freestyle sprints. We’ll be leaving early Friday morning to make the 10:30 race start. The bus will pull out at 5:30am sharp. The races will start at 10:30 on Friday, and 9am Saturday.

I am also attaching the info packet for the races in Jackson, which has more detailed information about race times, distances, etc. Please take careful note of the Driving and Parking section – there are instructions on where to park to catch a shuttle bus up to the races (a little different than in years past). Parents are asked not to park at the venue as parking space is extremely limited.

Please stay tuned for details about a possible team dinner Thursday after waxing, as well!

Thanks,

Maggie

Soldier Hollow

Hi skiers/parents –

As you know, we’ll be traveling to Soldier Hollow, UT this weekend to race. The bus will depart at 11am on Thursday, Jan 31 from the field house parking lot. We’ll arrive around 4pm, in time for the coaches’ meeting and to wax our skis at the motel that evening.

Freestyle sprint races will start Friday at 9am, with older kids racing first and the younger age groups following. The Saturday classic distance races will begin at 9am also, with younger skiers racing first followed by older age groups.

Our meals are of course being provided and prepared by Pat McGavran and her crew of parent volunteers – a huge Thank You to all of them for once again volunteering to feed us (and of course cheer us on at the races)! (Pat’s email, in case you have questions, or would like to volunteer your time or a financial contribution, is pmcgavran@q.com)

We’ll leave Saturday by 2pm, stopping somewhere along the way to grab some food, and plan to be home around 8pm(ish).

Keep up the snow dances…it’s working!

Inquiries? email: aaustin@wyoming.com

Ski rentals available at Gannett Peak Sports. Plan to rent before Saturday.

These skiers train all year long in hopes for qualifying for the High Plains District team and a chance to compete on a national level. Show them your support and learn some new skills.

DIRECTIONS TO BEAVER CREEK:

Beaver creek trails are about 22 miles from Lander, up the South Pass Hwy 28 toward Atlantic City.  The parking area is on the right (West) side of the highway.  The trails are at an elevation of 8000′.  For your convenience, here are the Google map driving directions to Beaver Creek if you are driving from Lander.

changes to race schedule

Hi all –

The training calendar has been updated to reflect a change to our race schedule. The Jackson and Casper meets have been flip-flopped due to a conflict with the sled dog races in Casper, so we will be traveling to Casper next weekend the 18/19, and to Jackson on Feb 8/9.
